Michael S. East
Sergeant Michael S. East is a 15-year veteran of the Saginaw Police Department, where he has also worked as a Field Training Officer, Background Investigator and Recruiter. Michael has been recognized by his department with two Exceptional Performance Awards, one Distinguished Service Award and one Joint Meritorious Service Award.
Michael has also received a Meritorious Service Award (Saginaw Fire Department) and a second Meritorious Service Award (State of Michigan). Michael’s first book, Burden of the Badge—A Year in the Life of a Street Cop, was published in 2003 and is available at www.authorhouse.com. He also writes feature-length screenplays.
Michael is an active member of the Fraternal order of Police Lodge #105.
Prior to his law enforcement career, Michael obtained degrees in Journalism and Advertising from Ferris State University. Michael also worked for several daily newspapers in Michigan.
In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, playing recreational league hockey, softball and volunteering.
